Why are #ebooks especially suitable for the visually impaired? Here comes the experience story from Latvia, shared by Mazsalaca City Library and Valmiera Joint Library. E-BOOK library www.3td.lv has been publicly available for almost 3 years now, is completely paid by the state and serves as a great opportunity for libraries to offer more than just traditional services to their clients.
The library is open to anyone 24/7 and to start reading you just have to be a customer in one of the Latvian public libraries. Currently, the 3td library contains around 550 books, with 3 new books are added almost every week. The book can be selected in several categories: ladies’ #novels, #biographies, #psychology, #crimenovels, healthy #lifestyle, most popular books etc.
The service is especially suitable for people with vision problems, as it is possible to change the font size and the background color of the text, as well as the brightness of the screen on the selected device – would it be a computer, tablet or mobile phone.
